Maricxi Anderson was a world re nowned opera singer frrai Phila delphia. 26, 1984 Tina Turner Queen of R&B won three Gammys. Chaka Khan was awarded a Grammy for her recording of I Feel For You. Critic's Comer Autobiography easy, descriptive reading Donna Bardon Banner Reporter Do you want to get a black male's perspective on how it really is growing up as a black man in society? WeU, the book you need to read is Nathan McCall’s auto biographical sketch. Makes Me Wanna Holler. In the book, McCall, a journal ist for the Washington Post, deals with the pressures a young black male may go through during his lifetime. He writes how society, black men and women, and pressures fix)m everyday life affected his de cisions as a young adult. Although the book is lengthy, you (Book ^viev^ will get into reading very easily because McCall provides a very direct desaipticn of his idea about life. The autobiography is filled with situations that we as young peq>le may be able to relate to whether through pCTSfflial expaience or just knowing someone who has been in that same situation. As McCall reforms after his incarceration in his early 20’s, the reader reforms with him. 1 highly recommend reading this book. It is not evoyday that we are presented with an under standing of what the black man is going through. Don't hesitate; get R. Kelly's latest Kelta White Banner Entertainment Editor R. Kelly, King of the Bump and Grind, can be called anything but a three time loser. His third, self-titled, album can be found bumpin in every other car from Lexus Coupes to Ho(q)tie Coupes. This is the first time since Pub lic AnncMjncement graced the wax with Kelly thathe has enlisted the help of others on one of his al bums. Biggie Smalls puts the finishing touches on “Be Hi^py” a track with a groovin base deep enough to drown in and Ronald Isely lends his smooth croonin to “On the Down Low.” The album is definitely good listening but it’s not another “12 Play.” There aren’t as many slow tracks on this album as I expected. There are a few tracks to pump at a party, two or three to play when you’re unwinding and others to play when your mother’s not around (it wouldn’t be R. Kelly if there wasn’t at least one freak song). After listening to this album I was angry that 1 hesitated to buy it. Now my neighbors are mad at me because to catch up on lost time I listen to it day and night. Sorry ladies.
