Keita White Banner Entertainment Editor Ooh-la-la-la, are the words that I sing when I’m bobbing my head. I usually go out and buy the CD’s that I review but not this time. I bought the first Fugees album, “The Tranzlator Crew,” and it is so bad that I vowed to never buy another one of their albums. I am, however, considering eating those words. Nothing you hear the Fugees do can be attributed to some other rap group that has come before them. They are taking rap music back to what it was meant to be: a CREATIVE way. Fugee's latest release is a masterpiece of hip-hop TT ,, „ c „ but R&B ( The new album “TTie Score” is in the process of sky rocketing the Fugees to a level of quality hip-hop that has been untouched (Music ^vie^ foryears. Not since Kid-N-Play’s debut in the late 80’s has there been a group that gets everyone on the floor without once men tioning guns, drugs, or those popular words used to describe females and their anatomy. The Fugees, who have popped on the scene at a time when guns rule, have stiU managed to find their place not only on rap charts. charts as well. The song most likely to win a Grammy is “Killing Me Softly.” Lauryn a.k.a. “The Lady L” knocked Roberta Flack, A1 B. Sure, and Luther Vandross off the face of the earth with this one. This song made me wonder how girlfriend would do as a solo artist She is after all carry ing those two dudes (sorry Pras and Wycleff but you guys need to stick to producing) on her back. The overall album is BANG ING. I didn’t think they would make it this far but I’m glad they did. They’ve reminded us that rap music can be fun with out being insulting.
