3* BENNETT BANNER ‘OCTOBER 10, 1997 OPINION • OPINION • OPINION • OPINION • OPINION Banner Mailbag letters to the editor Senior writes Thank You' poem to Bennett family Thank you to my Bennett sisters. When your sister is down and out, You show her love, support, no doubt. When times are pressed and hard to bear, Leave it to your sisters, they’ll be right there. In tomes of need, there’s no hesitation. My sisters have my back no obligation. If you’ve ever had a question about the Bennett sisterhood, Then you mustn’t have had any problems, I guess your doing good. To really know exactly this love I’m talking about, Get in a rut and you’ll see, how your sister will help you out. So if you hear nothing else, please hearken to what I say, Don’t discount your sister, she may help save your day! This poem is dedicated to all of the Bennett Sisters, faculty and staff, and two of my A&T brothers who helped me raise the money for my GRE fund. Thank you and may God bless each and every one of you in all of your endeavors! Rebekah Melton senior biology major Sisterhood Is..? Sisterhood is encouraging, comforting, and defending one another. It is not demeaning or destroying one another. Sister hood is agreeing to disagree. It is not being indifferent toward one another. Sisterhood is ignoring gossip, never spreading it. Sisterhood is giving each other the benefit of the doubt. It is not prejudging someone, especially without really knowing the accused. Sisterhood is treating everyone as an individual. It is not judging one person by associa tion. Sisterhood is having the courage to tell each other, in a respectful and nonjudgemental manner, when she has done something wrong. Sisterhood is having the ability to admit when you are wrong and being able to apologize. Sisterhood is being able to forgive. It is not holding a grudge. Sisterhood is unconditional love and respect that we should strive to show everyday. I hope that Bennett College, past, present and future, faculty, staff, students, and administra tors will take these words to heart It is my prayer that those of you that will be here next year and the years to come will work to eliminate the negative spirits and students that are infecting this wonderful, traditional phenomenal place we call “Dear Ole’ Bennett.” Anita C.
