Coach Spruill inducted into Sports Hall of Fame Joyce Spruill, coach of Bennett's basketball and volleyball teams was inducted into the North Carolina A&T State Sports Hall of Fame OcL 13. Spruill played for the Aggies from 1971-1975 starting all four years. She is the first female to be inducted. Dilliard Resource Net Interna tional Company made a pledge of $25,000 to establish and endow a scholarship fund at Bennett. Kenya Samuels, a junior mass communications major from Clinton, MX), is the 1997-98 recipient of the UNCF/Janet Jackson/Rhythm Nation Scholar ship. The $2,000 award is renewable. oooooo Dorthea Taylor, junior music education major from Marshville, North Carolina, received documentation of successfully passing all three components of the PRAXIS exam. She has now completed all the requirements for formal admission to the teacher educa tion program. The sons of Doris Best, former music major, comtributed $1,500 for a music scholarship to music majors for 1997-98. The faculty recommended sophomores, Shaneik Issac and Shona Thompson. Brandi Hunter, a sophomore from Harrisburg, majoring in mass conununications has received $5,000 from John Lennon En dowed Scholarships for the 1997- 98 academic year. If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, you might want to check the programs of fered each month in the Living Learning centers. Each dorms hosts a minimum of foiu" programs a semester. "We base our programs on the needs of the students in the Living Learning centers.” said Pia Hol land, a sophomore business ad ministration major from Richmond and residentassistantin Jones Hall. Many programs focus on issues such as health awareness, date rape, and time management.
