Lee has teamed up with Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, and NBA Milwau kee Bucks superstar Ray Allen, making his acting debut on the big screen. Denzel stars as Jake Shuttlesworth, a prisoner who is suddenly but temporarily paroled with the promise of a reduced sentence - if he convinces his son, Jesus (Allen) to sign with Big State, the governor’s alma mater. Jesus, the No. 1 high school basketball player m the countiy has been rearing his younger sister, Mary, (Zelda Harris of the "Crooklyn" fame), since his motiier’s death and his fatiier’s incarceration. Now Jesus must make the most important decision of his life: to either accept one of the many college scholarships offers or take the Movie Preview easy route and accept a finan cially lucrative deal with the NBA. With only one week shy of the deadline, Jake unexpectedly pops back into the picture and must somehow reconcile with Jesus and persuade him to accept Big State’s offer. During these tyring days, father and son reach a surprising tuming point in their lives as they reach an under standing and respect for one another. With the pressures of those around him will Jesus make the right decision? The answer is in "He Got Game" which opens nationwide May 1. "He Got Game" also features Lonette McKee as Martha Shuttlesworth and Bill Nunn as Uncle Bubba. Also check out the movie's soundtrack featuring music from Public Enemy. Contributed by Naima Q.
