Herring bids farewell
Serving as the editor of the Bennett Banner for the past two years
has certainly been a learning experience. I enthusiastically accepted
the challenge when I was appointed editor as a sophomore. Now it
is with lots of thought that I have decided not to return to the Bennett
Banner next year.
There are several reasons fw my decision, but most
importantly, I would like for someone else to gain the experience of
running a newspaper. Someone else will now be
able to accept the many criticisms and wait
forever to hear the compliments they should
receive. The position as editor has taught me how
to work the with difficult personalities one may encounter once they
reach the work force. I’ve also learned the whole wcffld is on a
deadline and the work force is full of politics.
We as students don’t try hard enough to stay abreast of all
that goes on in the news. Instead we spend way too much time
concentrating on things that aren’t that important and that are not
newsworthy. I hope in the future we will seek to stay abreast of
current events.
Many thanks to the administration, faculty, staff and
students who have always given me a pat on the back or a kind
word. To the graduates, lots of love and success. To the new
Banner editor I bequeath my patience. To everyone else, in the
words of Jerry Springer ‘Take care of yourself and each other.”
