Since the beginning of the 1995
academic year, Bennett has pro
vided students with access to the
information highway, also known
as the Internet.
There are two facilities where
students can be linked to the
Internet. The main Internet lab is
in the basement of the Catchings
Students have access to
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and
the Netscape servers on the five
operating computers (three com
puters do not work). This is the
only computer lab on campus
where students can visitchat rooms
and send or receive e-mail.
Students can also get on the
information highway by using the
six computers on the first floor of
the library. These computers are
networked to one main terminal
which also has to access Microsoft
and Netscape. However, students
are only permitted to use these
computers for research.
The MARC lab. Psychology
lab, and NASA MASTAP lab, all
located in Pfeiffer Science Hall,
have computers that are connected
to the Internet. Students are not
permitted to receive or send e-mail
in these labs, but they may surf the
net. There are two other computer
labs which are used primarily for
word processing that are not linked
to the information highway. They
are located in the basements of
Pfeiffer Science Hall, and Holgate
Library. Computing on campus:
