Jae'La Hall a senior elementary education major from Wilmington, Del. is the first student teacher participant in the student teacher requirement program, to student teach outside of North Carolina. Hall is teaching at Booker T. Washing ton Elementary School in Chester, Pa. !!! Dr. Beth Holder, an assistant professor in the Curriculm and Instruction department was guished Women of N.C. award. April 22. This award recognizes women who are advocates for the rights of other women. !!! Dorothy Colson director of Bennett’s Annual Fund will present the First Southeast Regional Conference on Black Philanthropy April 16-17, at the Koury Convention Center.through 26. !!! Anita Duncan, a senior chemis try major from Montgomery, Ala. has been accepted into medical school at the University of Alabama. !!! Dr. Alma S. Adams, chair of the Visual Arts and Humane Studies Department/eceived the Mary Powell Seymour 2000 Distin- Dr. Lenora Brogdon-Wyatt chair of the Mass Communica tions Speech and Theatre Department has been selected to receive the Bennett College National Alumnae Association Faculty Service award. The award will be presented to Brogdon-Wyatt during the Alumnae Weekend luncheon May 13. !!! Kenrisha Greene, a senior arts management major from New York, N.Y. sold her painting “High Noon” at the Piedmont Art Association celebration of Black Expressions I. The event March 27 included works from students represent ing five other colleges. !!! Face-lift replaced. Also, the holes in the ceilings have been repaired, and new carpet has been installed in the entrance to the parlor. “The windows in the basement of Cone Hall will be replaced, March 14, and a contractor was asked to re view the basement windows," Scott said. In Pfeiffer Hall the front pump sewer has been repaired. The base ment has also been disinfected, and the washing machines were repaired or replaced. Ceilings were also fixed. In Player Hall things were re moved from a storage room in the basement "This space will be con sidered for possible installations of a study area,” Scott said. Scott said that she announced in the fall and again at this year's Convocatum Est that this year was a time of change, both long and short term. Changes have been made since the student protests but there are still many Aings that are in the process of being changed, Scott said. Memer Hall is still being re paired. A wall cabinet that was pulling the sink tables will be re placed. During the protests, students said that there are not enough staff and resources to keep the dorms cleaned properly .“I have said to Continued from Page 1 the community and to the Board of Trustees 'You do not have enough people to do the work here on a regular basis',” Scott said. “The College has a $12 to 14 million budget to keep this school in tip top shape."
