State College Textile Students Visit Plant Tour of Entire Plant Is Made 75 Members of Textile School; Are Entertained At Clubhouse bj" Thurmond Chatham Unity Club; Are Invited To Make Visit To Mill An Annual Event SUBSCRIPTION CONTEST ENDS Boys Are Winners Over Girls By Close Margin; Campaign Is Considered Big Success The contest for new subscrip tions for the Blanketeer, conduct ed by the Lucy Hanes Chatham clubs and the Thurmond Chat ham Unity club, closed April 27, with the boys’ club winning by a close margin. The staff is pleas ed with the success of the cam paign. There is practically one hundred per cent, of the em ployees subscribing to the paper. (If you have not subscribed, then turn your subscription in to the reporter of your department.) R. Hart and A. H. Grimshaw, spent Thursday, May 2, visiting the entire Chatham plant. Immediately upon arrival the group was taken to the club house where they were entertained by the T. C. U. Club. Later the group was divided into smaller groups of seven or eight and each group was taken through the manufacturing plant. The boys’ club officers and mem bers ierved as guides for the in terested students. During tlie noon hour the stu dents were the luncheon guests of Mr. Thurmond Chatham, at Ho tel Elkin. At this time the guests were welcomed by various execu tives of the company and were given an invitation to make their visit here an annual affair. Following the luncheon the students were shown through the finishing plant and the scouring and carbonizing plant. Each year the seniors of the Textile School make an inspec tion tour of the prominent mills in the South. Previous to coming here the students had visited the (Continued on page eight) STAGE BANQUET AT HOTEL ELKIN Members of Blanketeer Staff Gather In Honor of New Reporters Added To Staff Members of the Chatham Blanketeer staff enjoyed a ban quet at the Hotel Elkin Tuesday evening, April 30. The dinner was given in honor of the new re porters who have recently been added to the staff. Miss Claudia Austin, editor of the Blanketeer, acted as toastmistress. Forty per sons were present. Interesting and constructive talks were made by C. C. Poin dexter, C. J. Hyslup, Walter Bur- giss, Russell Burcham and others. The object of the meeting was a bigger and better publication. Miss Austin stated that everyone was pleased with the progress of the paper since its organization in 1933. Each member of the staff was introduced. Mr. H. F.
