It has been a year which has brought many changes in our country. We are all expected to devote our energy and enthusiasm to help in our National Defense Pro gram, so as to do our bit towards making our world safe for democracy. I know all of you will fully enter into the spirit of this far-reaching program which is being developed by President Roosevelt and the Con gress of the United States. As far as the employees and all my friends in Pisgah Forest are concerned, we have a lot to be thankful for. With great efforts, we have been successful in just about finishing the new addition to our mill, which will double our production capacity. It was not an easy task to accomplish this, due to the fact that so much material needed by us was also required for defense purposes. However, cigarettes —for which all of our departments are producing sup plies—is considered by our government very essential and, therefore, we have been given appropriate prior ities by the government so that we can obtain our necessary supplies. , , 1 want to thank you and express my appreciation to all of you for the help and loyalty which you have shown me during the past year. It was a great com fort to me and has helped me to make my task an eas ier one. . Only with continued cooperation, friendship and confidence on your part in me,, and on my part in you, can we expect to carry on our work successfully and continuously. You know by this time you can depend on me and I assure you that, at all times, will 1 look upon your problems as my own. I sincerely trust all of you will enjoy a most happy Holiday Season and that only health, prosperity and good fortune is in store for you, for many years to come. , , i-i. • * May we continue to celebrate many more Christ mases togetherl i e i I do not want to let this Holiday Season go by without hoping all of you will include in your prayers that before long peace again will be restored m this world so that all the strife and destruction will cease forever Sincerely yours, HARRY H. This drive, backed by the spirit and enthusiasm of 1600 employees, surged toward the one hundred percent mark within a week’s time. It was astounding how quickly all companies joined together for a concentrated effort to raise the necessary amount of money. No credit is due any particular person for such a rousing success because in the end the figures prove that ninety-three percent of all em ployees participated equally in the final hospital drive. Practically everyone in our organization can say, “We did it”. These figures of the drive are presented to you from the results of each company’s contribution.
