Printed by Champagne Job Printing Department. ALL TOGETHER Once there were three men, Messrs. S., B., and I. Their work was very closely related; in fact, Mr. I. combined the works of Mr. B. and Mr. S., and sent them on as a finished product. Their working quarters were separate and the foreman of the three had plenty of walking to do trying to keep all working on the same brand at a relative speed , trying to keep the three places as regular as possible. One day, all three moved to new quarters—all under the same roof. Working easier for the employees and the poor foreman had much less trotting around to do. And so did we . . . the Stitchers, Blockers, and Inserters. Now we share the same quarters and it’s an elegant place. Several po^ts I’ve heard mentioned as desirable are the new lighting system; the inserters tables have a sort of felt composition back which absorbs some of the sound of beating book lets. Also in our new department, we realize if we take time, that each department depends to a great extent upon the other. It is a les son people everywhere should study so they won’t get big head ed and over-rate their importance in any certain way. When the block ers and stitchers put out good work, so do the inserters, but when one goes bad, it slows up every thing. All of us, in any line of work, may sometime run into some bad lot of materials, even in the best . . . , but now every body can see the work everybody else has to do. Besides the advantages above men tioned, our workroom should teach us the spirit of cooperation. So friends, let’s thank Mr. Straus and all connected with making our new building posible. Let us be happier together where not only Champagne Paper products will be produced with a better understand ing, but that our lives will be bet tered and lived fuller through les sons learned by cooperation, and watching the work the fellow next to us has to do. Champagne Machine Shop The Effectiveness Of Cold Capsules In and effort to pass on to our employees the experience of other industries using Oral Cold Vac cine, we are quoting the following information that was released by The Peoples Gas Light arid Coke Company of Chicago, 111. “During 1939 our employees lost quite a bit of time from work due to colds, pneumonia and other ail ments derived from or aggravated by colds. In 1940, we made cold capsules available for our em ployees and statistics showed the following reductions; 1. Reduced number of colds of employees 80% 2. Reduced duration of these colds 50% 3. Reduced complications of these colds 20% “Based on the statistics kept dur ing the two years, we figure that the use of cold capsules saved our employees approximately $25,000 cash in sick pay.” At the present time the above type capsules are available in the First Aid Station and are free to employees of Ecusta, Champagne and Endless Belt.
