Ray Byrd was chosen as catcher and was also named the best all-rounl sport in the league. Holland Corn and Troy Drafee were, named (he best pitchers. The infield stacks up as follows: Rusty Carland, lb; Marshall Gillespie, 2; David Sams, ss; Charlie Clay ton, 3b; Ed White, utility infielder. The outfield: Hoss Stamey, If; Rick Orr, cf; Roy Head, rf, and Fred Miller, utility outfielder. Doyle Well, manager of championship Control team, was named as all-star manager. D. Wells, Mgr. die Collins, Paul Waner, and Pop Anson. Nap had a lifetime batting average of .338 for his 21 years in the majors (1896-1916). His best year was 1901 when he led the American League with a .405 mark. Lajoie is one of the select few who has been chosen for baseball’s Hall of Fame at Coop- erstown, N. Y. The banquet will feaiture a steak dinner, with bingo after ward. Proceeds from the league all-star game played earlier in the summer will be used to pay for the banquet. When saving for old age be sure to lay up a few pleasant thoughts. Plans Being Laid For Bowling League Although the definite date of the opening of the season will be decided at a meeting next Tues day, September 2 in the library, it appears likely that the Interde partmental Bowling League will open the third week in Septem ber.
