TULANE ISRAEL, Fine Paper
Division: “The reason I find my
husband a hin- —,

cause he never
gives me time to
try on enough
dresses. His be- \

me into making ^
a quick selection . ^ ^
and, therefore, it
is an unwise one.
I believe it is
best for both of
us for me to shop alone.”
KITTY RUSSELL, Main Office:
“I find my husband definitely a

my husband to go ~

lucky to win.

Congratulations to our square
dance team for winning top place
at the Festival in Asheville and
especially to Edith Stiles, one of
the lab. group and a member of
the team.
Purchases seem to rate above
vacations this month. Lucy Clarke
went home to Lavonia, Ga., August
15 and returned with a new Ford.
“Ricie” Robinson went to Old
Fort, her home, and came back
with a combination radio and rec
ord player. Bill Hunter is still
looking for a car but can’t seem
to make up his mind.
Raymond Nicholson made a trip
through the Smokies recently.
Eva Sentelle spent her vacation
July 28 at Carolina and Wrights-
ville Beaches.
Buvee Capps went to Atlanta for
a short trip on July 11.
Anna Holliday hopes that it won’t
be too long before she can move
into her new house.
Dot Johnson visited in Chapel
Hill August 6.
The Analytical department gave
a birthday picnic for Raymond
Nicholson August 12 at Camp Sap
phire.
Franklin Kerber is the most ele
vated man about. Could it a
blonde?
We extend welcome to the new

press. They are Brona Young,

drop, Eunice Phipps, LuciUe Mc
Crary, Ruby Heaton, Ruby Rig-
don, Mildred Parker, Ellenne
Mason, Lillian Johnson, Ruth
Pruitt, Reba W. Owen, Carolyn
Brown and Howard Burgess . . .
Does it seem unusual to any
one but us that we have five
Whitmires on the Day Shift and
six Rubys on the Evening Shift?
Somehow it reminds me of the
true story of an old aunt of mine
who, during the course of her
life of 85 or 90 years, was blessed
with two husbands and ten chil
dren. She was first a Thom,
then a Head and then a Horn
and she had five Heads and five
Horns ....
We are sorry to lose Dorothy
McQuinn who is resigning because
of ill health. Our best wishes go
with her and we hope she will be
improved soon ....
It seems that some of the
Endless girls are bound to win
in square dancing sooner or later
as we have two on each of the
local teams. Amanda Powell and
Gladys Arnette dance with the
Connestee team and Faye Whit
mire and Violet Patterson are on
the Ecusta team . . .
We extend to Dorothy Whitmire
our deepest sympathy in the re
cent death of her great grand
father ....
Lavonne Israel’s unusually hap
py expression of late is due to
the fact that her husband is home
after having completed a course
in Electrical School in Raleigh.
Dick Landeck recently spent a
week at Myrtle Beach.
Mary Alice Jones also spent her
vacation at Myrtle Beach recent
ly
Helen Rogers surprised us by
getting married while she was on
vacation. The lucky husband is
Gordon Black of the Ecusta Main
tenance department . . .
Edna Batson visited in Eizabeth-
ton, and Nashville, Tenn., and
Sue Nicholson visited her sister
in Salisbury during the past
month. Others taking vacations
this month are Ollie McMinn,
Clara Stepp, Opal Broom, Gladys
Arnette, Marie Whitmire, Mary
Price, Rose Bolick and Catherine
Corn ....
Perhaps we should establish
some kind of honor roll for em
ployees who make outstanding
records. Of course, we have a
flock of operators on day shift
who would make it every month
but we would like to mention a
few of our new girls on the eve
ning shift of whom we are very
proud: Lois McCall, Betty Jean
Whiteside, Clara Lee Roper, Ruby
King, Anne Gravely, Grace Tinsley,
and Velma Ruff. We congratulate
the entire evening shift, they
are doing very nicely ....
The Brevard Music Festival is
only half finished at this writing
but to me, it was worth the price
of the season ticket just to see
and hear lovely Wan Merriman.
