(Continued On Page 22) BEECHER CARL ALLISON IS FIRST 1948 ARRIVAL We are proud to introduce Beecher Carl Allison, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Allison of the Machine Room. Beecher Carl, named for both of his grandfathers, is the winner of the $25 savings bond offered by our company each year to the first baby born in the new year in an Ecusta family. The new arrival was born Monday, Jan uary 5, at 12:49 p. m. at the Biltmore Hospital in Asheville and Dr. Kermit 3rown, well- known Asheville obstetrician, was the attending physician. In an exclusive interview for The Echo, Beecher Carl refused to comment on life, but was def inite in his stand that food and sleep are the inherent rights of infancy. In fact, to get the picture below, he was rudely aroused from a good nap by a nosey photographer. He was noncommital when accused of closely resembling his father. Mr. and Mrs. Allison have an attractive pre-fab house on the Rosman highway. Before her marriage, Mrs. Allison was Miss Grace Mull and was formerly employed here. This is their first baby. Welcome, Beecher Carl, there are a few problems to be smoothed out yet, but it’s a pretty good old world you’ve come into, after all! 11
