Above Further bringing to light the fact that our plant continues to attract visitors from all over the world, L. Shaffi, consul of Pakis tan in India toured the plant recently. He is shown here being wel comed by Mr. Harry H. Straus. Shown left is Arthur M. Jones, executive secretary of the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, and Miss Frances Stockman, secretary to Mr. Shaffi. Pakistan is a Moslem state, formed when India was partitioned last August 15. The country and its leaders were featured in the January 5 issue of Life magazine. Mr. Shaffi visited Western North Carolina’s industries in an effort to see if any industries here might be adapted to use in his native country. "A Vision Come To Life" In his Christmas mail, Mr. Harry H. Straus received an anonymous card, not too different from the many others he received, except for the following note which was written on it: "From one of your employees who thinks you are one in a million. You may count on me to help make Ecusta an even greater success, because Ecusta is more than a corporation it is a vision come to life and it is up to us, its members, to nurture it as it grows and expands.” AN ECUSTAN. PUBLISHERS TO VISIT HERE More than 400 newspaper publishers from 44 states in the union will visit Ecusta Friday^ May 14, of this year. The pub lishers are members of the Na tional E d i t o r i al Association which will hold its national con vention in North Carolina the first week of May. After busi ness sessions May 6, 7, and 8, at Pinehurst, the group will begin a six-day tour of North Carolina to be climaxed with the visit here. Ed M. Anderson, publish er of the local Transylvania Times and four other Western North Carolina weeklies, is vice- chairman of the convention committee. In September of 1946 mem bers of the North Carolina Press association were guests of Ecusta. God gave man five senses— touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing—the successful man has two more—horse and common. 18
