Seamstresses Here Sew and Save Every Week February 21-28 was observed as National Sew and Save Week, a fact which is not of startling importance since those National Weeks come and go by the doz ens; however, it is a good time to recognize some of the many fine seamstresses here at Ecusta. Miss Irene McGee of Cham pagne is one of our most talent ed seamstresses. Since she was a small child helping her moth er piece quilts, she has been turning out beautiful work. The attractive Christmas costumes that you’ve seen Santa’s helpers wearing at the Christmas par ties are a sample of Irene’s skill. Lately she has tackled one of the most difficult jobs—that of tailored shirts, both for men and women. Made of white wool, the finished product is beauti fully done. Mrs. Lavonne Israel is an other of the many women here skilled with the needles and ma chine. She is shown in the pic ture at the right finishing some embroidery work. Lavonne is in Endless Belt and she and her husband form one of the many husband and wife teams here. Her husband, Ray, is a member of the Electric Shop staff and is a member of the Five Year Service Club. They live at Little River near Lavonne’s parents. Mrs. Virginia Townley of Finishing directs her sewing ef forts toward many original things for her and her 10 year old daughter, Nancy. In the picture on this page, she is shown making a blouse for Nan cy. Her domestic talent does not stop with sewing—the Echo photographer knows. Those toil house cookies came out of the oven at a most opportune time —and were they good! Mrs. Townley has been an Ecustan since August 7, 1941. SEW AND SAVE Above, Miss Irene Mc Gee is making a sports shirt. Right, Mrs. Vir ginia Townley is mak ing a blouse for her daughter, and below Mrs. Lavonne Israel is embroidering.
