That should be considered long which con be decided but once.—Syrus. Basketballers In Tournaments To assure an enthusiastic cli max to the basketball season, there’s always plenty of tourna ments and our teams are in the thick of the fight for some of those glittering trophies and medals. The boys entered the Ashe ville Y Gold Medal Tournament the latter part of the month and were expected to make a good showing. In recent games, they have shown considerable im provement. At the same time the boys were in Asheville, the girls were carrying the name of Ecusta into the Hendersonville Gold Medal Tournament. If the Four-States Tournament is held in Asheville, the girls are expected to enter it. Last year Ecusta went to the finals of this big event before losing to Enka in a close contest. In games during February, the girls defeated Asheville Bomb- erettes twice, 14-11 and 16-15, and lost to Enka 28-23 and Canton 25-24. The boys like wise won two, and dropped two. Wins came over Ridgeway, 46- 43 and Enka’s Buncombe Coimi- ty team, 57-44. The season’s scoring record for the boys, through February 17, is as follows: Name Games M. Taylor .... 10 S. Merrell .... 13 P. Dockens ..11 T. Drake .... 13 H. Sizemore 1 O. Taylor .. 2 H. Stamey .. 10 C.McKinnish 10 R. Merrill .. T. McCaU .. W. Nelson .. C. Laughter 7 10 9 7 J.
