INSPECTION NEWS Meet The Wife ... BY Kenneth McDaris Boy! That ground hog really saw his shadow. Despite the ter rible weather we have had, near ly everyone got to work and on time. Melvin McCormick went "a courtin’” and slid off the highway which caused him to miss one day. Melvin Atkinson walked to work rather than put on chains. "Shorty” Nicholson whose picture and new Chevrolet truck you saw in the December Echo drove his new machine to Florida for a vacation and we bet he had a swell time. D. L. Thorne has found a new remedy for stomach ulcers. He bought a new Studebaker and forgot his ulcers. Almond Hall bought a new Dodge pick-up. Roy Head bought a Ford coupe and Millard Teague bought a Pontiac sedan, both nice looking cars. Don’t for get me, fellows, when you go fishing. Ernest Cagle and Craig Snipes got tired hunting for oil and bought coal heaters. Lee Reid bought a new home at Pisgah Forest, and Melvin McCormick bought a new home at Etowah. Aside from February colds our sick list includes Mrs. Hugh Merrill, Mrs. Jake Hollis, Mrs. Bob Mathews, James Keever’s father, Mrs. Ralph S. Smith, and Almond Hall’s baby. We hope they will soon recover. Miss Fay Martin and Howard Lowing were recently married. After a honeymoon in Florida they will make their home in Hendersonville. . Orville and Inez Long are spending their vacation moving into their new home. Helen Fullbright is spending her va cation in Florida. Cecil Morri son is also having a vacation this month. Our sympathy to Ray Byrd’s wife who lost her father recent ly and to Howard Lawing, whose uncle died recently. As you can see from these pictures ,health and happiness radiate from the faces of the three children of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rhodes. This month Mrs. Rhodes is the center of interest in our regular "Meet the Wife” feature. In the picture above, it’s an af ter school snack for Richard, Jr., 5, Barbara 7, and Shirley Ann, 10. After a bite to eat comes some fun as Richard, Jr. holds the group in a state of expectancy as his balloon gets bigger and bigger. Mrs. Rhodes is the former Leona McConnell and is a native of Murphy. She makes beautiful clothes for the girls and like many Ecusta wives, is an ardent canner in the summertime. Mr. Rhodes is in the Machine Room and is a member of the Five Year Service Club. We salute another fine Ecusta family! 7
