LOOSE ENDS By Mary Sue Thorne The Stork has paid two visits to folks in our department re cently. He left a nice eight pound boy on March 29 for Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Landeck, whom the proud parents promptly named Richard William, Jr. Mrs. Landeck and baby are doing nicely and are at the home of the Mother’s parents in Spartan burg for a few days. And on April 11 Mr. Stork swooped down again with a son for Mr. and Mrs. Pete Sugg. Mrs. Sugg will be remembered as Nelle Gallamore. Fritz Brauer is convalescing at his home in Hendersonville after a severe seige of pneu monia. Claude Edney has recuperated after "passing out” when he hit his funny bone on the storage bin in the Ironing Dept. For tunately, he didn’t hit his head on anything when he fainted and fell flat on his back on the floor. Rose Bolick has been con fined to her home for two weeks following a tonsillectomy. Grace Tinsley is recuperating rapidly from an appendix opera tion. Sue Nicholson says the Christ mas spirit surely reigns the year ’round in Santa Claus, Georgia. Sue and her husband. Bill, went to Daytona Beach, Florida re cently. On the return trip they spent the night in Santa Claus. They were up early the next morning, breakfasted and were on their way. When they arriv ed in Greenville, S. C. Bill dis covered he had left his billfold tucked under the pillow where he had slept the previous night. He sent Sue on to Brevard and returned to Santa Claus. He found his billfold just where he left it and considered the trip well worthwhile because the billfold contained $400.00. Fannie Jo Tinsley was mar ried to Doyle Brown of Hen dersonville on April 23. They were married at Glady Branch Baptist Church Friday evening at 7 o’clock. Ruth Williams, Edna Mae Mc Crary, Fay Whitmire, Edna Bat son, Billie Brown, Sherrill Alli son and Willie Mae Mehaffey took part in the Minstrel Show presented by the Five Year Serv ice Club on April 16 and April 23. WHO MAKES A GARDEN Whoever makes a garden Has never worked alone; The rain has always found it. The sun has always shone, The wind has blown across it And helped to scatter seeds— Whoever makes a garden Has all the help he needs. Whoever makes a garden Should surely not complain, With someone like the sunshine, And someone like the rain. And someone like the breezes To aid him in his toil. And someone like the Father Who gave the garden-soil. Whoever makes a garden Has, oh, so many friends! The glory of the morning. The dew when daylight ends. The wind, and rain, and sunshine And dew, and fertile sod. And he who makes a garden Works hand-in-hand with God. POWER PLANT NEWS By Walter Kay There are lots of fish stories going the rounds already. We wonder if there are as many caught out of the water as there are on the job. Obie Willing ham, Bob Duckworth, Foy Guice, Bill Lyday, Sam Kent, and company are really in fine fettle. Some real nice fish are caught here—on the job, that is. If anyone is in need of a good lawyer, Dutch Bruner admits he is a good one. David Nixon, of the Meter shop, is another addition to our department. He’s single but is talking about houses and how much a girl eats, so, gals, you’d better work fast. Well, spring fever is working on me so I guess I’d better stop for now. So long until May! WORRY can be a menace to your work, your health, and your happiness. It never helps you to solve the problem you worry about; it may even dis tract your attention and lead to personal injuries. HELP THE NEW EMPLOYEE Certainly, show him the way ... the way about the plant . . . the way to get acquainted with the people he ought to know . . . and the way to do his work more easily and safely. Treat him as you wanted to be treated when YOU were a new employee. When success is at your feet don’t allow it to go to your head.—The Sphinx. 6
