From the Inspection Depart ment comes news of the birth of Joseph Cordell, 9 lb, boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Quinn April 2, at the Patton Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville. A girl, Linda Ann, arrived April 5 to live with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon H. Reese (Machine Booklet). She weighed 7 lbs. 4 02. and was born at the Tran sylvania Community Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chap pell (Inspection) announce the birth of Brady, 6 lb. boy, on April 12 at the Transylvania Community Hospital. Paul Roberts of Job Printing, is a proud grandfather for the fifth time. Betty Sheron Rob erts was born April 30 at Vir ginia Beach. The father, S. J., formerly played in the Ecusta String Band. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sorrells (Yard Crew) have a new baby girl, Helen Eileen, born May 14, at the local hospital. Helen Ei leen weighed IV2 lbs. at birth. Beverly June is the name given to the new arrival at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Orr (Refining). She arrived April 12, weighing 9 lbs. 4 02s. It’s a girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ledbetter (In spection). The name is Patricia Elaine and she was born April 27 at the Patton Memorial Hos pital. A boy, Charles Dennis, 5 lbs. 3 02. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morgan (Main Offfice) on April 28 at the Patton Me morial Hospital. March 7 was the birth date of Gloria Jean, lbs. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Fisher (Pulp Mill.) The Harry Dreyers (Main Office) announce the arrival of their third girl, Katharine Lucille, on May 1, at the Mission Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs., 9 02. Audrey Fern is the pretty name of the new addition to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Sherman (Cafeteria). She was born May 4 and weighed 7 lbs. Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. PLI.vy (Machine Room) are proud of Brenda Charlene, 7 lbs. 2 02. daughter, born May 4 at the local hospital. A iVi lb. boy, David Earl, arrived on Mothers Day, May 9, to live with Mr. and Mrs. Earl York (Main Office). "Are you the photographer?” "Yes, sir.” "Do you take children’s pic tures?” "Yes, sir.” "How much do you charge?” "Three dollars a do2en.” "Well, I’ll have to see you again, I’ve only got eleven.” BURCH AND WELLS GET HONORABLE MENTION IN ESSAY CONTEST Ernest Burch and Doyle Wells received honorable mention for their essays on Safety and Per sonnel Problems entered in the third annual Bolton Award con test sponsored by the American Pulp and Paper Superintendents Association. Included in the announcement of the winners was this state ment; "In recognition of the ef forts of those individuals whose papers were among the group from which the pri2e winners were finally selected, we are printing their names under the title of "Honorable Mention,” The names of Wells and Burch were in this select list. NEWLY-MARRIED COUPLE Melvin McCormick of the Inspection Department and Miss Ruby Golden, a former employee of the same department, were married April 24 at Pickens, S. C, Right now Melvin and his wife are busy with their new home at Etowah and when it’s com pleted, it will be one of the most attractive in that section. 15
