•SxftyOn . J»cv(il.Mcra6^; Accioemts Kill 2bO _v PEOPLE IN THE US. It is indeed alarming to know that accidents, and most of them needless, kill 260 persons every 24 hours in these United States. To have human life snuffed out on so great a scale, is really unfortunate. : We read about these death-dealing accidents in our daily newspapers, and never seem to become alarmed un til these tragedies strike close home. We do become up set and worried when some unfortunate person is killed in an auto wreck in our own community, and such an in cident tends to slow us down a bit on fast driving. And yet, when the clouds have blown over, so to speak, we let our foot rest heavy on the accelerator again, and drive foolishly fast through business districts and other congest ed areas, hoping against hope that no accident will be forthcoming and that we won’t get pulled for speeding. This is just another form of gambling that will always pay the wrong kind of dividends. Why can’t we be smart and | follow the Golden Rule when operating a motor vehicle.^. ... \ Why should we subject other peoples young ones to instant death, when we have young ones that we are striving to raise to manhood and womanhood? . . . Just why should we act as a "prince in the parlor”, and be come such a '"pest when we get behind the wheel? . . Why can’t we be as polite when we meet strangers on the highway, as we are when we pass them on the sidewalk? . . . There is no doubt but that highway fatalities could easily be cut in half in a very short length of time, if we could only do un to others as we would have them do unto us. Remember, Safety is Everybody’s Business! the employee “down the line," so to SPEAK* HAS A GREATER STAKE IN AN INDUSTRIAL SAFETY PROGRAM THAN ANY- FELLOW- WORKERS, WE IMPLORE THAT YOU GO ALONG WITH US IN OUR ACCIDENT PREVENTION PROGRAM, AND DO YOUR UTMOST IN HELPING ELIMINATE PERSONAL INJURIES ONE ELSE CONNECTED WITH INDUSTRY TO DAY M o
