Softball Team Has 6-1 Record .... In games through June 15, the Ecusta softballers had racked up a fine 6-1 won and lost record for the season. The lone defeat came from the Kt- wanis team by a 7-5 score. Recent victories have been registered over the American Legion 6-5; Brevard Hardware 10-1; and Hobby and Sports Shop 11-1. Ed Allen has been the outstanding hitter so far this season boasting a .478 average. Included among his hits have been four home runs. Plans are in the making for some exhibition games at Camp Sapphire during the months of July and August and definite announcements will be made in the weekly Sports News. The schedule for July: July 9—Ecusta vs Rosman Baptist July 16—Ecusta vs Kiwanis July 22—Ecusta vs American Legion July 27—Ecusta vs Brevard Hardware UNDEFEATED MACHINE ROOM LEADING FIELD The Machine Room, possessing a spotless 6-0 record, is leading the field in the Interdepartmen tal Baseball League in games through June 14. In fact, the runners-up of last year are so far ahead that the closest team, the Generals, have only a .500 record. Control, champs last year, are finding the road to another title a rough one, hav ing won only one of six games. Only one game has been postponed in the league this season. The game scheduled for July 5 between Control and Machine Room will, of course, be postponed until a later date because of the annual picnic. There’s plen ty of fast action at all times. Right, three members of the Ecusta team 'are caught by the camera in action. Ed Allen is the catcher hustling after a pop fly; Marshall Loftis is all set to blast out a hit, and Speedy Merrell fielding at first base. 19
