DON'T LET LIFE SHORTCHANGE
YOU—WEAR YOUR GOGGLES
■ Sometimes a man who wouldn’t think of work-
,■ ing without goggles when at his own bench, will
■I remove them when walking through the shop.
This practice is o. k., if your walk takes you
where there’s no chipping, riveting, grinding,
hand tool, or machine work going on, or near
other eye-hazardous jobs. Otherwise you are
asking for it—for accidents respect no time, place
or person.
A chip from the other fellow’s work can blind
you just as easily as a chip from your own. Even
your best friend may be the innocent cause of
your injury, so wear your goggles always where
there’s even the slightest danger.
At trade school or as an apprentice, you spent
years learning your trade. You can lose an eye
and your trade in the time it takes a clock to
"tick.” It is true that artificial eyes are getting
better and better every day, but if you prefer your
own, be sure and wear your goggles when you’re
doing any type work that could injure your eyes.
REMEMBER: Blind men, even if they work,
can’t read a pay check.
In the Army it’s "Eyes right.” On the job, eyes
RIGHT means wear your goggles.
In the movies, when grapefruit squirts in one’s
eyes, it’s sure to get a laugh. But it’s no joke
when you’re hit in the eye by a flying particle.
BE
ACCIDENTS
HAPPEN
IN '0^-
FLASH/
There are numerous employees right here in
our plant who will readily agree that Accidents
Happen In a Flash!
Unfortunately, there are several persons among
our personnel who have lost days and weeks away
from work, in addition to having become partial
ly disabled, due to an accident that happened in a
split second, so to speak.
The age-old adage that ''Haste Makes Waste"
has been proven on numerous occasions here at
Ecusta, and ’tis always the "hasty person" or the
"chance-taker" who has to pay the price. The un
told suffering and inconvenience must be borne
by the injured person, and believe you me, such
suffering and inconvenience really grows old
fast.
It really behooves each of us to be alert at all
times, and to do everything in our power to
avert personal injuries.
