It would be difficult to estimate the number of houses now under construction or recently fin ished by Ecustans, but on this page is a sample of the building activity in one department—In spection. In company with Kenneth McDaris, Inspection reporter, The Echo photographer made a short tour the other afternoon and this is only a part of the house pictures which were taken. Intro ducing the story at the top is the home of Orville Gray in the Blantyre section and descriptions of the others follow in the order that they appear. When Jack Brown completes his handsome rock house, he will have one of the most attrac tive homes in the growing Penrose community. A rock house like this is the dream of most fami lies. No longer in the category of "under construc tion” is the neat little home of Henry McCormick which is already completed. This house, too, is located in the Blantyre community. Just off Carolina Avenue near the Rosman Highway, you’ll see a new six-room house and Leon Scruggs is the owner. Leon is shown here with a carpenter in the midst of the construction job. One of the prettiest natural lots anyone would want is the building site selected by Doyle Ham ilton. The home- is located in the Little River community and is very attractive. Melvin McCormick and his new wife are busy these days remodeling their home at Etowah. Some beautiful new kitchen equipment was one of the first things on their list and you can look for a comfortable and convenient home when they are through. ★ het Me hive In A House By The Side Of The Road ★ 27
