ON THE COVER
To hear a gardener talk during the growing sea
son, you’d think he’s having the poorest luck ever
—no rain, too much rain, blights, bugs, wilt,
weeds, etc. The way he talks, it will be a miracle
if he raises anything at all, to say nothing of hav
ing something outstanding enough to put on dis
play at the Harvest Festival. But the Ecusta
Harvest Festival is the payoff—and this year’s
event should be the biggest and best yet.
Charlie Cook is the man behind the mechanical
plow on the cover. Top right is an attractive in
dividual display; the middle picture shows the
judges admiring the beauty of some zinnias en
tered last year; and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Harrell,
last year’s champions, are shown with one of the
several prizes they took home. To the left of the
Harrells is another individual display, featuring
gladioli.
