NEW ARRIVALS Mr. and Mrs. Cicero Gillespie (Maintenance) are the proud parents of Roger Dell, a son born July 31 at -Dr. Wilson Lyda’s clinic at Brevard. The big boy tipped the scales at lbs. It’s a girl—Lana Marie—for Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert E. Raines (Fibre Warehouse). She was born August 5 at the local hospital and weighed 8 lbs., 8 02S. James Pryor arrived August 15 to live with Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Davis (Machine Room). Born at the Transylvania Community Hospital, he weighed 8 lbs., 13 oz. at birth. A big girl—Karen Rebecca—provided the big news at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Cecil King (Maintenance) on August 9- She weighed 10 lbs., 6 02. and was born at the local hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson A. Gillespie (Finishing) announce the birth of William Alexander on August 18 at the local hospital. The new baby weighed 6 lbs., 12 02. From the Pulp Mill comes the news of the birth of Michael Lee Baynard at the Transyl vania Community Hospital on August 9- Son of Mr. and Mrs. Marson L. Baynard, he weighed 7 lbs. A son, Steven Lewis, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis J. House (Cafeteria) on August 21 at the local hospital. The new arrival weighed 7 lbs., 3 02. ASHWORTH-HENDERSON WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. John Ashworth (Champagne) announce the marriage of their daughter, Ruth Elaine, to Franklyn Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Henderson of Eliott, S. C. on August 23, in Clayton, Ga. FINISHING TOUCHES By Betty Ann Orr Lois Holbert and Addelyn Ward enjoyed a nice week-end at Carolina Beach. Billie Blankenship spent her vacation at home and from all accounts she had a most enjoyable time. Even though her boy friend was in the hospital, she says playing nurse maid is a pretty good past-time, especially with the right patient! Ada and Jack Rudisill enjoyed a nice vacation in Chicago. Jack, one of our former employees, is now attending Brevard College. Those enjoying vacations this month are— Lessie Meese, Jessie Galloway, Louie Jones, Lydia Reese, Lillie Mae Galloway, Verna Lee Smith, Ronnie Orr, Jackie Whitaker, and Jean Hall. Sorry to lose Ha2el Galloway. She has de cided to devote all her time to house-keeping. We extend our deepest sympathy to Charles Hamilton upon the death of his brother. Looking very content and obviously at peace with the tvorld is little Miss Attdrey Feme Sherman, jive months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sherman (Cafeteria). OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO... Frank Fisher (Research) on the death of his mother, August 24. Echo readers will remember that Mrs. Fisher’s picture appeared in the April issue of this magazine in a feature on Mother’s Day. She was 86 years of age. Funeral services were held August 25 at Lake Toxaway. John Eversman (Recreation Department) on the death of his mother, Mrs. Blanche Dillon Eversman, September 9, in Hendersonville. Mrs. Eversman was 71. Funeral services were conduct ed Monday afternoon, September 13, at St. John- in-the-Wilderness Episcopal Church at Flat Rock. Earl York (Main Office) on the passing of his mother, Mrs. Cloma Wood York, 64, in Toc- coa, Ga. on September 2. Funeral services were held Friday, September 3, at the First Baptist Church in Cornelia, Ga. Frank Patton (Refining) on the death of his mother, Mrs. R. E. Patton on September 8. Funeral services were conducted at the Brevard- Davidson River Presbyterian Church and inter ment was in the Davidson River Cemetery. Mrs. Patton was 96 years of age. Robert Johnson (Main Office) on the death of his mother, Mrs. Bessie Byers Johnson, 73, in Hen dersonville on September 3. Funeral services were held in Hendersonville on Tuesday, September 7, and interment was at the Methodist Chapel ceme- tary in Mills River. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Henderson Count}^ 27
