FINISHING BITS By Betty Ann Orr Elizabeth Barnett and Virginia Bryson For this issue of the Echo we present two new brides. Ruth King of our department and J. T, Reid of the Cafeteria were married on Saturday, September 18th, in Clayton, Georgia. Ethel Mae Clark was married to J. B. Holden on Saturday October 9th, in Pickens, South Carolina. Con gratulations and the best of luck to each of you! While we are writing about our brides, we must not forget our bride-to-be—^Jean Hall is wearing a beautiful diamond and. as everyone already knows, the lucky man is Fred Souther land. Congratulations and lots of luck to you also! Frances and Cecil Smith are sporting a new Pontiac around and it sho’ is pretty. Sorry to lose Myrtle Smith who has decided to devote her entire time to housekeeping. We certainly miss you, Myrtle. Nice to have John Hill back to work after re covering from having his tonsils removed. Did you hear about Frances taking him a box of pop corn while he was in the hospital. Billie Blankenship and Betty Stewart enjoyed a nice week-end in Atlanta, Georgia. Dot Conley spent two weeks vacation visiting her sister in Florida and reports a very fascinating time. Lois Holbert and Betty Ann Orr had a nice vacation while visiting friends and relatives in Washington, D. C., and Baltimore, Maryland. Josie Thomas, Juanita Lusk and Aileen Brj^son are vacationing. Wonder if they will bring back a sun tan. Our "Rubies”, Ruby Waldrop and Ruby Heaton are looking forward to a vacation trip to Hot Springs, North Carolina, and Holly wood, Florida. Others enjoying vacations this month are: El- dred Burns, Alton Ashworth, Estelle Orr, Ted Gillespie and Frances Hill. We extend our deepest sympathy to Rosalie Orr upon the death of her mother. Some of us are taking advantage of this lovely fall weather for last minute picnics and hikes. Dot Banning reports that she and her family had a wonderful time at Frying Pan Gap, and Donnie Ballard, Mattie F. Walker and Elizabeth McGraw say that fried chicken tastes even bet ter when cooked and eaten at Bent Creek Ranch. Alice Smith visited her husband at Moore General where he is receiving treatment. Welcome to "C” shift: Alta Beougher, Gladys Wirtz, Betty and Joyce Danielson, Mildred Ashe, Verna Masters, Louis McCrary, Franklin Rackley, Lester Cox and Luther Garren. Hope you enjoy your stay with us. Finishing Department families really enjoyed the recent "Family Days” at Ecusta. One child was heard to remark as she went through the line at the Cafeteria, "Do we get all this free?” Anyone who missed the opportunity of attending this occasion surely would regret it if they should hear some of the ones who attended discuss it. We miss Polly Osteen who has left us to de vote her entire time to housekeeping. Margaret Waldrop and husband have moved into their new home on the Rosman Highway. We have felt there was something missing on "B” shift. Oh, it’s Argyle Wells and Ester Reeves who are working at Champagne Division tempo rarily. But Aileen Baynard, Lessie Mease and Laura Mae Gardner have joined us, and we are glad to have them. Also Fannie Freeman who has been working on another shift. Mary Kilpatrick, don’t keep us in suspense any longer and wear that ring or tell us what is the attraction at Marshall. If anyone wants to know anything about politics, ask Jim Orr. He can give you any in formation you need. How about it, Jim? We wonder if David Sitton’s vacation has anything to do with Mary Corbett’s working days. Thelma Owen has a new car and is learning to drive. Maude Norwood and husband report a grand week-end at Charleston deep sea fishing. We extend our sympathy to Lola Shook upon the death of her grandfather. The smiling girl above is Ruth King of the Finishing Department. Ruth, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. King of Brevard, was mar ried on September 18, to ]. T. Reid of the Cafe teria. J. T. is the son of Mrs. Ford Reid and the late Mr. Reid of Cashiers. 14
