Roberson, mother of Mrs. Reynolds, and Mrs. Betty Gaither, daughter of Mrs. Reynolds. Mrs. Fortner was born in Lee County, Virginia in 1847. At one time her family lived at War Eagle, West Virginia. It was here that the re nowned family feud between the Hatfields and McCoys brought much savagery and terror to the area along the Kentucky and West Virginia state line. She remembers well the feud which has become an American legend. One of her brothers was killed in the War between the States. Moving to North Carolina in 1912, she has been living in the State ever since, and on July 11, 1949 she will celebrate her 102 nd birthday. Ronald Eugene, being the youngest member of the group, was born on August 1st of this year. He has eleven living grandparents. Mrs. Reynolds is a native of Madison County. She is employed in the Machine Booklet De partment and her husband is employed in the Maintenance Department.
