Betty started painting at an early age when she spent the Summers on the sand dunes of Cape Cod. There she' painted tyjpical quaint Cape Cod scenes on shells that she picked up on the -beach. After attending Brevard College and Randolph-Macon Woman's College she ^ studied art at New York University. . . Betty is especially fond of painting .seascapes, laddscapes, and animal portraits. Aside from oil paintings she does textile paint ing on aprons, ties, scarfs, and blouses; and pastels, charcoals, and • beautiful oil work on glass\vare. The pastel, shown above, is a pbrtrait of her dog, Hunter Robin Hood; and on the blouse that she is wearing is an oil painting of a blue bird. Some of her textile work was sold in a shop on Park-* Avenue,,^and her oil paintings have been exhibited in New York and Asheville.
