SPORTS ECUSTA'S 1949 BASEBALL TEAM Beneath a sunny sky with a chilly wind blowing, in weather more suited for football than baseball, our Ecusta nine opened its 1949 baseball season Saturday, April l6th, on the Camp Sapphire Athletic field. Although our team dropped its opening game to Berkeley by a score of 8 to 3, the team looks promising and hopes to make a good showing for themselves in the future games. Shown in this photo arrangement are the men who will represent Ecusta for the 1949 season. These men will be trying hard to make our Ecusta team a winning team and your sup port as a loyal fan will help them to work harder for victory. So every chance you get, give them your support by attending the games. New members of this year’s squad are Troy Drake, Robert Jennings, Fred Miller, George Sex ton, Bill Byrd and Joe Whitaker. Members of last year’s squad are Charlie Clayton, David Sams, Jack Alexander, Footsie Case, Rusty Carland, Pete Dockens, Roy Head and Fritz Merrell. *11 FRITZ MERRELI LF JOE WHITAKER INFIELDER CHARLIE CLAY 3RD BILL BYRD PITCHER "Vootsy'^case OUTFIELDER ROBT JENNINGS OUTFIELDER FRED MILLER OUTFIELDER
