which takes up one room, and part of which is
shown in the picture. Almost seven years ago
Ricky was given a small electric train. This small
set was the nucleus of the complete system
which he has today. All additions to the original
train has been made from kits, except the sta
tions, houses and some other parts which he made
in his workshop.
All of the tracks, switches, cars and gadgets are
electrically controlled, individually or in groups,
from a central control panel. Not shown at left
is the side tracks and the freight yard. Rickey’s
system uses most of the same ideas as a real
railway system—from loading platforms to auto
matic dumpers.
His other hobbies include, a stamp collection,
hooked pot holders, a butter fly collection, wood
working, and a Morse telegraph connection from
the house to his workshop. He has earned all of
the money needed to support his hobbies.
Ricky, shown with his two brothers (Peter,
age 4 and Page, age 6), holds the rank of Lion in
Den 3 of the Brevard Cub Scout Pack. His father
is employed in the Main Office.
