DEPARTMENTAL BASEBALL LEAGUE PLAY GETS UNDER WAY Bert Kassing made the initial pitch officially opening the 1949 season’s play of our Ecusta Interdepartmental Baseball League on Wednes day afternoon. May 4th. The scheduled opening game between the Generals and Champagne teams, for Monday, May 2nd, was rained out and will be played at a future date. The Machine Room and Champagne team are undefeated thus far with the Machine Room hav ing two wins with no losses, while the Cham pagne nine has one win with no losses. The Control and Generals teams have failed to score a victory, with the Control team meeting defeat twice and the Generals once. Much enthusiasm has been shown in these opening games with promise of many enjoyable evenings of fun, fellowship and some good base ball mixed in for the next few months.
