OPENING DAY AT SAPPHIRE m : f. • vm Several hundred employees and their families enjoyed the warm sunshine and the many activi ties at Camp Sapphire on opening day, Saturday, May 28th. Despite the fact that the water in the lake was not as warm as usual, the swimming area was very popular. The largest crowds of the day attended the band concert, the double-header baseball game with Clearwater, and the square dance in the gymnasium. A large number of families brought picnic lunches and enjoyed a full day of activities, while several of the older fellows played a couple of games of horseshoe— then relaxed in the shade. As the weather gets warmer the camp will be a mecca for sportsmen and picnickers. Good cook ing facilities, with plenty of fuel, are available in the picnic area, and athletic equipment is available at the office. The swimming area was not as popular as usual, but shown at top are some of the persons who braved the cool water. Shown above is Paul Keller, of the Analytical Lab., enjoying an outing with his family. Mrs. Keller is cooking hamburger for lunch, and take it from the photographer—they were delicious.
