In memory of the War Dead of Transylvania County, the American Legion, V.F.W., Reserve Corp, D.A.R., and the American Legion Auxiliary joined in a parade and services on Sunday, May 29th. The parade started at the American Legion Building and ended at the Memorial Plot in Gil lespie Cemetery, where the service was held. Mr. Ralph Fisher delivered the Memorial Address, paying tribute to the veterans of all wars who gave their lives for our Democracy. Raymond F. Bennett was in charge of the pro gram, and the music for the occasion was furnish ed by the Ecusta Band, under the direction of John D. Eversman. Taps was played by Billie Cansler and Larry Patterson. The Color Bearers were Jim Smith and Ike Ayers, and the Color Guards were Eb Morrow and Burder Teague. The Guard of Honor con sisted of Charlie Disher, Jack Wilber, Marshall Loftis, Ralph Morris, Ed Loftis, Paul Whitmire, Vance Jackson, D. S. Winchester and Robert Fost er. On facing page are shown pictures of the Me morial Service for Ecusta employees who lost their lives in World War II. The service was held on Monday, May 30 at Camp Sapphire. Above are pictures of the parade and service in Brevard on Sunday, May 29, honoring the War Dead of Transylvania County.
