9 The old saying the third time is the charm” proved to be true when Richard Fuller, son of John Fuller of the Engineering Department, won the Asheville Soap Box Derby on the third time that he had entered. Richard won in three straight heats. He will go to Akron, Ohio to com pete for the National Championship on August 14th. The derby was sponsored by the Asheville Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Richard’s racer was sponsored by the Orange Crush Bot tling Co. of Asheville. Douglas Henson, son of Bill Henson of the Refining Dept., won two heats but lost out in the third. This is the first year that Douglas has entered, and after his goc^ showing he has his eyes on the championship next year. Sid Barnette’s Machine Shop of Pisgah Forest spon sored his racer. 21
