Bud Taylor played golf in his home town of La Fayette, In diana. Pete Muffat hiked for two days in the Smokies where he encountered four bears who during his absence opened tomato and orange juice cans and spilled the juice on the ground. Julia Morgan enjoyed boating and was lucky to capture her car keys when they fell overboard. A1 Skinner spent the week-end in Highlands. Harry Kolman vacationed in Savannah. Mr. Schur visit ed Boston and in Connecticut. Bob Peckham went on a two week Navy Cruise. Last, but far from least, I have the great plea sure of announcing the birth of William (Bill) David Sams, Jr., born July 10th at Biltmore hospital, weighing 7 lbs.-9 ozs. "ENDLESS SCOOP" By Edna Mae McCrary The fifth of July marked Endless Belt’s tenth year of operation at its present location. Sid Beecher is the oldest employee, having been with the Company ten years June 24, at which time he started setting up machinery for the opening date. Mary Sue Thorne is another oldtimer, having celebrated her tenth anniversary with the Com pany July 13. Everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed a general vacation the week preceding and includ ing the Fourth of July. Those taking their annual vacations during the month of July were as follows: Lucy Smith, who enjoyed a trip to New Jersey, Gladys Arnett, Mille O’Dell, Donna Sutton, Opal Whitmire and Marie Whitmire. It is nice to know that Amanda Powell is im proving following a recent operation at Tran sylvania Hospital. Sophia Jones had as her guests the past week her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Mayberry of Washington, D. C. A "moving epidemic” has begun among some of the girls in our department. Evelyn Morrow has moved from Hendersonville to Brevard, Opal Whitmire from Toxaway to Brevard and Johnnie Stepp from Hendersonville to Brevard. We hope they may be happy in their new location. Why Marie Whitmire was so happy after her week-end visit to Greenville? Don’t tell us—let us guess. CHAMPAGNE MACHINE SHOP NEWS By James R. Poteet We enjoyed the Fourth of July Picnic, but we missed Mr. Straus very much. It is nice having all of the fellows on the job —none of them are vacationing this month. Ector Capps reports a nice trip to Canada while on his vacation last month, but he says that there is no place like the hills of Western North Carolina.
