The most beautiful flowers ever seen in Brevard
were on display at the Annual Flower Show on
August 19th. This annual event, sponsored by the
Brevard Garden Club, attracted hundreds of
flower lovers from several States. Rows upon
rows of tables were covered with almost every
variety of flower grown in this area.
One of the most beautiful and highly compli
mented display was the roses of Mr. Aston Heath.
The Asheville Judges stated that his was the
most beautiful collection of roses that they had
ever seen.
The unique arrangement of some of the dis
plays added glamour to the show. Above left is
an arrangement by Mrs. E. J. Coltrane. Her
gladioli are in epergnettes. Epergnettes, combi
nation candle holders and flower vases, were ori
ginally designed by a member of the Raleigh
Garden Club.
The primary object of the Brevard Garden Club
is to beautify the county and to encourage beau
tification. This club also sponsores the Junior
Garden Club, which assisted the parent club in
the arrangements for this year’s show. At top
right is shown an exhibit by Sandra Bridges, who
is a member of the junior group. This attractive
display was given the tri-color award.
