LOOKIN’ THROUGH THE MILL WITH OUR DEPARTMENTS POWER DEPARTMENT NEWS By Howell Medford Since we last visited The Echo, v!ication.s have been numerous. Everyone had wonderful trips, plenty of fishing and fine picnicing. Sherman Hunter and family spent their vaca tion in Chicago, visiting Mrs. Hunter’s parents. Obie Willingham had very good luck fishmg m South Carolina. Lemuel Daniels spent a lonely week just loafing. Coy Compton’s daughter, Frances, was recent ly married in California. The young couple will make their home in that State. "Pete” Norwood had a vacation, but he would not tell us where he was going, however, he as sured us that he had a good time. Our sincere wishes for a speedy recovery for Mrs. Paul Baker’s father. He was very ill, and Paul, Mrs. Baker, and Pete Norwood have visited him several times recently at his home in South Carolina. , Horace Hall and his wife enjoyed a week ot fishing, resting and riding around in their new Ford. They also visited relatives of Mrs. Hall. Jim Cornell visited a brother in Tennessee, and had some fair luck with his rod and reel. From the sun tan on Leland George, he must have rid den his motorcycle all the time during his va- cation. The Ecusta Quartet missed Crockett Matthews when he took his vacation. Crockett was like Pete Norwood, he wouldn t tell anyone where he went. We understand from reliable sources that Clarence Allison spent part of his vacation in the vicinity of Raleigh. Stiles Main Office MAINTENANCE GREASE SPOTS By Bruce Cassell Horace DeBord and family had a very nice time on their trip to Canada and down through the Southwest. Henry Overstreet is in the Transylvania Com munity Hospital with rheumatic fever, but is re ported to be getting along fine. Those who haven’t had their vacations yet are waiting until hunting season. Sorry to hear about Bruce Reynolds losing his rabbit dog. Mr. Bagwell has moved his desk to the foot of the stairs. Worth Wells has sold his home and is getting ready to build another one. AUTOBOUND-MACHINE BOOKLET NEWS By Sara Loftis Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Farmer of Camden, S. C., announce the birth of a daughter, Anita Paulette. Mrs. Farmer will be remembered as Ellen Sentelle, formerly of this department. Laura Pharr is back at work after spending several days in the local hospital for treatment. Charlotte and Walter Johnson are the proud owners of a new green Studebaker. Gladys Wilson and Irene Staton spent the week-end in Nashville, Tenn., and attended the Grand Ole Op’ry. Charlotte Barnwell spent several days at Tybee Beach, Savannah, Ga. Louise Houck and husband spent their vaca tions at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Others having vacations are Helen Orr, Lorena O’Kelley, Silver Mann, Martha Harris, Tulen Israel, who spent most of it at home resting. Lillian King spent a week visiting her mother and sister in Columbus, Ga. John Smith visited relatives in Alabama and Florida. Carolyn Garren had a birthday Sunday and brought us some of her cake. Incidentally, she also received a lovely ring as a gift. John Southers visited our department while at home on furlough from Germany. Buck Albert left" recently to become a member of the Air Corps. 26
