BOLT, Superintendent of Grounds MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT The Maintenance Department is charged with keeping all of the machinery and auxiliary equipment in perfect running order. Besides the normal duties of maintaining our equipment, de signing new equipment, and making new installa tions, this department eternally plans ahead, maintaining a constant program of preventive maintenance. A complete history is kept of every piece of machinery. The Machine Shop makes all necessary repairs on equipment and make many new parts for the machines. The Carpenter Shop makes boxes for various shipments as required and maintains all wooden structure. The Electric Shop is contin ually busy checking some 4000 motors, making coils and rewinding motors, maintaining a run ning history and making repairs on every piece of electrical equipment, replacing lights, and de signing and making all new installations. The Maintenance Department is also responsi ble for the maintenance of the grounds, the paint ing of all buildings and equipment, and repairing and making brick and concrete construction. 47
