ECUSTA BOWLERS IN THE THICK OF BOWLING TEAMS ENJOYING WNC LEAGUE BATTLE SUCCESSFUL SEASON For the fifth consecutive season, our Ecusta bowling team of the WNC League is in the thick of the battle among ten teams fighing for the 1949-50 bowling crown of Western North Carolina. The 1949-50 season got under way on Tues day night, September 6th, and with twelve weeks of bowling gone, our team has maintained an av erage of 500 percent in the win and lost column through Tuesday, November 22nd. Ihis put the team m fifth place, six games behind the league leading Standard Supply team. With twenty-four remaining matches to be rolled we feel sure our team will be fighting hard to move up the league’s ladder in hopes of capturing the League crown. Members of the 1949-50 roster along with their averages, as of November 22nd are as fol lows: Ralph Morris 186; John Emory 181; Walter Straus 178; Clyde Galloway 177; Charlie Col well 171; Lewis Meece 167; and Joe Lavell 161. Ecusta’s 1949 and 50 bowling season opened on Friday night, September 30, with approximately fifty bowlers, representing the six team league, hoping to bowl their team to victory. Due to the fact that the bowling alleys were moved out of Brevard this past summer, our Ecusta league is bowling on the Biltmore Plaza alleys this year. League matches are held every Friday night, starting at 6:45 P. M. Although the size of the league dropped from twelve to six teams this year because of the dis tance involved, many new bowlers have joined the family of Ecusta keglers. At this writing, November 25, the Bees are leading the leagues’ race, one game ahead of the second place Maintenance team. The Clippers are in third place, one game behind the Maintenance team. The league’s ten leading bowlers through Fri day, November 18th, with their averages are as Continued on page 20 BEES BOWLING TEAM Shown above are members of the Bees Bowling Team.
