BO One day last Summer, when we were hav ing a few drops of rain for a change, Mr, John Smith, President of the Brevard Chamber of Commerce, was driving through Pisgah Na tional Forest when he heard a strange sound. He and Mrs. Smith stopped to investigate, and found a small doe that had lost her moth er in the high waters. He took the young deer to the home of Ranger "Bill” Duncan. Mr. Duncan immediately went to the drug store and bought a baby bottle and nipple, so that he could feed her. After this the doe, which Mrs. Duncan called Bo, stayed around the house, nibbling on the flowers and vegetables in the garden. Sometimes Bo would go off into the forest and stay for hours, but he was always present at meal-time. Bo is shown here, at the age of three weeks, waiting on the porch for her supper. NO TIME LOST In October Tom "Shorty” Hargis, of the Elec trical Department, completed ten years of con tinuous service with Ecusta. During that time, he has not been absent from his job other than that taken for his vacations. The company wishes to congratulate him on this wonderful record. Tom lives in North Brevard with his family. His son "Tinker” plays football with the Brevard High School team, and if you get a chance to see father and son together, you can understand why Tom has received the nickname of "Shorty”. 26
