LOOKIN’ THROUGH THE MILL AUTOBOUND AND MACHINE BOOKLET NEWS By Sara Loftis We are very glad to have Mae Whitmire and Harry Golderer back at work after their illness. Also Clara Bryson who has been absent due to the illness of her father, Mr. Sid Barnett. Marie Smith and Martha Harris are patients in hospitals in Asheville. We wish for them a speedy recovery. Martin Turbyfill and family spent a week-end in Erwin, Tennessee, visiting his father. Silver Mann and family recently visited rela tives in Spartanburg, S. C. and Canton, N. C. Lorena O’Kelley and Gladys Wilson attended the fashion show in Hendersonville. Sara and James Avery are the proud owners of a new Chevrolet. In Spring a young man’s fancy turns to tho’ts of love, but with women its tho’ts of new Spring clothes. We have quite a number of girls who are making their own suits and dresses. Those going to Spindale to buy their materials were: Laura Pharr, Marie Smith, Tulen Israel, Silver Mann, Sammie Hensley, Lillian King and Sara Loftis. Harold Misenheimer has started work on their new home. We are all looking forward to an invitation to their housewarming. Jewel and Ross Wilson are planning to spend their vacation in Florida. FINISHING DEPARTMENT NEWS By Betty Ann Orr Everyone in Finishing is going to have a lot of pretty flowers this year, since they have all been buying pansies. Rosalie Orr is taking her vacation, but is also sick. Here’s hoping that you get well soon, Rosa lie. Billie Blankenship and Aileen Bryson enjoyed a week-end in Chapel Hill. Roanelle Bishop and Fairrie Lee Huggins are getting prettied up for Spring with new per manents. We wish Vera Wilson, who is sick, a speedy recovery. We have been wondering if Alta and Ester have eaten any rabbits lately. They really enjoyed the last one, especially when the cleaning took place. From all reports the rabbit gave Ester a very good chase. Frosty Johnson had the misfortune of having an automobile accident when another car ran her off the road and struck her car. Glad to hear that no one was hurt. Homer Orr also had a wreck. As he turned off the main highway at Southern Dairies, a truck hit his car and knocked it off into the ditch. The car was badly damaged, but fortunately there were no serious injuries. Harley Capps has taken up boxing for a new hobby. Is there anyone who would like to have a few rounds with him.? We were very sorry to lose Opal Perkinson from this department. Glad to have Elizabeth Gossett back with us after her illness, and the illness of her sister. CAFETERIA NEWS By Anne Kitchen We wish to express our deepest sympathy to Glenn Newton and J. A. Wilde on the loss of their aunts. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Barton report the birth of a daughter on January 25, and a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Fisher on February 2nd. We are glad to hear that Mrs. Glenn Newton has returned home from the Transylvania Com munity Hospital where she underwent an opera tion. It’s easier to do a good job than to explain why you didn’t. 24
