FOUND—RHYME CONTEST WINNER The following article appeared on the sport page of the San Francisco Chronicle on March 22nd. It is about Bill Duflock an assistant to Wade Ramsey from 1934 to 1944, leaving to become Secretary and Manager of the El Centro, Cali fornia Chamber of Commerce. Bill was at Estill, South Carolina when the first bale of flax fibres was produced at the Estill plant. The article, written by Bob Stevens, is as follows: "Have you ever wondered what type of animal it is that enters, and wins, a national limerick contest? Or a jig-saw, cross word, or one of those 'I like fur lined wall sockets because in 25 words or less’ scrambles. "Having entered a few, I don’t think anybody ever won. Nobody has moved up to my house and unloaded a refrigerator or the Brooklyn bridge, and I thought I’d go through life convinced that those contests were phony. "But, I had to go to El Centro, of all places, to run across a real live beneficiary of the ex clusive '25 words or less” irritants. And as I always suspected, he turned out to be a Chamber of Commerce man, a character out of Georgia named Bill Duflock. "This Duflock fellow, the only man in the world who can speak Mexican with a Southern accent, recently wound up second in a dog food contest with the immortal conclusion that his hamburger burner eats Dr. Airdale’s Miracle Mix because (here it comes, hold on!) 'it keeps a wag in his tail and a spark in his bark.’ "Such genuis should not be unheralded, and it is readily realized why Duflock, a Georgia rene gade who admits there must be some basis to the rumor that the North actually won in extra in nings from the South, is a successful vocalist.
