FOR YOU AND YOURS Our being interested in the program for the prevention of personal injuries, means much more than just being careful ourselves. It means being interested in the safety and welfare of our fellow-workers, and forever doing our utmost to help prevent accidents of every type. GOOD HOUSEKEEPING and CLEANLINESS will always be essential, if we are to eliminate the serious type injuries and keep the minor ones at a minimum. This is something that will pay the right kind of dividends throughout the plant. An analysis of the accidents that have occurred here over a period of ten years, brings out the fact that POOR HOUSEKEEPING has contri buted to a great many of our personal injuries . . . injuries that could have been easily avoided by just having a "place for everything” and "keep ing everything in its place”. In other words, if it doesn’t belong on the floor, pick it up.. When oil spots, cores, and waste material are kept off the floor and the plant is kept as clean as it should be, then the slipping and tripping hazards that often cause serious injuries are truly eliminated. These are things that we should watch for at all times, as it is our responsibility to help remedy hazardous conditions in every way pos sible. The interest that has been manifested in our accident prevention program by the personnel as a whole, has indeed been very gratifying. It is that type of continued interest that will pay divi dends to all of us, in making our plant one of the safest in which to work. A safety program in industry today is somewhat like a "CHAIN” . . . "it is just as strong as its weakest link”, and one ”chance-taker” can easily ruin a good safety record in a few seconds. Lets all resolve to THINK and TALK SAFETY at all times. 15
