LOOKIN’ THROUGH THE MILL WITH OUR DEPARTMENTS POWER DEPARTMENT NEWS By Howell Medford Since the arrival of spring everyone in the Power department has had fishing on their mind. There have been several nice catches reported from all the boys. We are certain others will be reported as the season progresses. We wonder who will win the prize offered by our fishing club. There will be about $15.00 for some lucky guy. Vacations seem to be the desire of all of us since the arrival of warm weather. James Connell spent a few days fishing and farming. He says he caught up on his farming, but is still behind on fishing. Walter Kay and Mrs. Kay went to Florida early this spring. They went for several reasons, in cluding the trying out of a new Ford car. They had a wonderful trip. We are all glad that "Dutch” Bruner is well from a visit to the hospital in Greenville, S. C. "Dutch” is back on the job. He has a new truck in mind, too. We regret to announce the loss of Mr. Paul Baker, who left us for another job in his home land near Lancaster, S. C. For the new job we offer our congratulations. We are certain all at Ecusta can say for Mr. Baker while he was at Ecusta, Well done and keep up the good work. We all wish you real success. Mr. Horace Hall will assume the duties of Mr. Baker. We know he can hold us in fort and will be a real leader of men. Horace, we are behind you to a man and will all back you to the limit. Horace, by the way, finished his vaca tion at Lake Santaleah. He had the pleasure of fishing a couple of days. He had nice catches but Mrs. Hall had the most fish. Look out, Horace. Samuel Rose had a vacation. We wonder what he did.^ He never did tell us. We imagine he and Mrs. Rose had a full week. Sam is a good gardener and loves to fish, too. Sam Kent spent a vacation fishing. He tried out our own forest for trout. He also reported a trip to Lake James and says he has the fish to prove it. We understand Sherman Hunter has gone into the Midget auto business. Maybe he will offer a few rides to all interested customers. At this writing Vernon Lominac is on his vacation. We will have to wait to see the results. We wish him a nice vacation. School will soon be out and everyone will be happy. We can sympathize with all the boys and girls. Nine months is a long time. The entire Power department offers sympathy to Julian Brown. His father passed away since our last visit to THE ECHO. MAINTENANCE GREASE SPOTS By Bruce Cassell Another month has rolled by with our safety record still going good. Quite a crowd of our boys were on Davidson River last Saturday and Sunday to try their skill at fishing. Most of them did pretty well. Several of the boys are on vacation or have al ready taken them last month: W. W. Smallwood, David Hollingsworth, Albert Holden, Medford Cooper, Everett Moffitt Harry Clarke, Tom Hea ton, Ervin B. Sams, L. B. Marlowe, Dewey Burns, James Passmore, Ingomar McCall, Harry Ballard, Robert Marcum, Lester Lemmons, Carl Bryson and W. A. Cline. We hope they did or will laave a swell time. Carl Hamby has a new job as tool room clerk. We don’t know who he rolled for the job. Carl Eldridge has taken on some new duties for the week of May 15th. We wonder if Gordon Black has got any more hay to sell. We are also wondering why Norman Thomp son started riding a motor scooter to work. May be his Nash was using too much gas and oil. 26
