This historic building is on Independence Square in Philadelphia. It houses the Liberty Bell and a small mu seum of historical and colonial objects. It was the scene of the proclamation of the Declaration of Independence, July 4th, 1776, and was the meeting place of the Con tinental Congress and the consti tutional convention. It is preserved as a national memorial.
