N. C. Industrial baseball team broke into the win column on Saturday, May 20th, by defeating the Sylvia "Ploughboys” by a score of 5 to 3. Grover Suttles, making his initial appear ance on the mound for the 1950 season, struck out eleven men and gave up seven hits while gaining his first victory of the season. The team went on from there to win three of the next five contests played through Tuesday, June 13th. On Saturday, May 27th, Ecusta split a double-header with Enka, winning the first game by a score of 5 to 4 and losing the night cap 2 to 3. Clint Morris scattered thirteen Enka hits effectively and gained his first win of the season. Bill Byrd pitched superb baseball and limited the Rayonites to only three hits. Victory looked certain, but a bad break in the seventh inning cost Ecusta the victory. Saturday, June 3rd, our team traveled to Sayles Bleachery and split a double-header there, winning the first game by a decisive score of 14 to 3 but dropped the second game by a score of 3 to 2. Suttles annexed his second win of the season as he limited the Sayles nine to two hits.
