ARMY RESERVES The Brevard Army Reserve Unit was activated on March 15, 1949. At present the unit is com prised of two Batteries of the 316th Field Artillery Battalion commanded by Major W. F. Taylor of Asheville. The unit consists of approximately 60 members and meets on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thurs day nights at the American Legion Building. The majority of the members are from Transylvania County. This Unit is one of the most active in Western North Carolina. An extensive recruiting pro gram has been conducted. Battery A commanded by Capt. James Morrow of Brevard consists of the following: Capt. Wil liam Keith, SFC Charles Disher, SFC Walter Hamlin, SFC Charles Himes, SFC Harold Sini- ard, Sgt. Gordon Black, Sgt. James Simpson, Cpl. Jamss Crawford, Cpl. Carl Enloe, Cpl. John Flynn, Cpl. Henry Garren, Cpl. Charles Heath, Cpl. Her man Rahn, PFC Julian Brown, Pfc. Quantin Crane, Pfc. Ralph Dodson, Pfc. Orville Mull, Pfc. Joseph Whitmire, Pvt. Roy Barton, Pvt. Robert English, Pvt. George Talley, Pvt. Paul Whitmire, Ret. Newland Mull, Ret. Harlee Neill, Ret. Robert Nicholson, and Ret. Perry Raxter, Battery B comanded by Lt. Wil liam A. Bland of Penrose consists of the following: Capt. Ralph Waldrop, SFC James Misenheimer, SFC John Reid, SFC Otis Shipman, Sgt. Charles Summey, Cpl. John Johnson, Cpl. James McCall, Cpl. Jack Mackey, Cpl. Junior Myers, Cpl. Raymond Nicholson, Pfc Vic Hollingsworth, Pfc, William John son, Pfc. Frank Norris, Pfc. Acie Waldrop, Pvt. Hary Ballard, Pvt, Guy Bryson, Pvt. Lloyd Compton, Pvt. Edward Gillespie, Pvt. John McCall, Pvt. George Summey, Ret. John Boggs, Ret. Charles Erwin, Ret. Jesse Holden, Ret. Robert Reems. The following officers are attach ed but not assigned: Lt. Col. Ran dal Lyday, Lt. Col.
