VOLUNTEER AIR RESERVES Flight "C” 9943rd Volunteer Air Reserve Training Squadron, Brevard, was activated in November 1949 by a General Order issued by the Fourteenth Air Force, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The Squadron is Composed of 23 of ficers and airmen, who live in Transylvania County and nearby communities. This unit meets every other Wednesday night at 7:30 in the V. F. W. Building in Brevard for the next two months. During the winter months the unit meets every Wednesday night. The Squadron personnel carries on its own training program under the supervision of the Fourteenth Air Force. The program generally consists of lectures on timely Air Force subjects and extensive use is made of excellent training films. The attendance has been exceptionally good and the members have all shown a keen in terest in the Squadron’s activities. The officers of the Unit are; Colonel E. B. Garrett, Commander; Captain J. S. Carpenter, Executive Officer; Captain Ed Loftis, Adjutant; Captain A. J. Loeb, Assistant Adjutant; Captain Vance Jackson, Training Officer; Lieut. Jack Smathers, Assistant Training Officer; T-Sgt. L.
