DECLARATION OF FREEDOM When you enrolled on the scroll for the Declaration of Freedom you signed this: "I believe in the sacredness and dignity of the individual. I believe that all men derive the right to freedom equally from God. I pledge to resist aggression and tyranny wherever they may appear on earth. I am proud to enlist in the Crusade for Freedom. I am proud to help make the Freedom Bell possible, to be a signer of this Declaration of Freedom, to have my name included as a perma nent part of the Freedom Shrine in Berlin, and to join with the mil lions of men and women throughout the world who hold the cause of freedom sacred.” DON'T FORGET TO VOTE Our Nation has always polled more votes in presidential years than in the so-called off-years, yet each election is very important to our welfare. On November 7th the American voters will go to the polls to elect United States senators, representatives, governors, and other state officials. It is important that you cast your vote in this election. Failure of a large percentage of eligible American Citizens to exercise their right and perform their duty to vote on Election Day constitutes a serious weakness in our democratic system. Compulsory voting has not received very enthusiastic support. Many organizations conduct get-out-to-vote campaigns with some success. But, in spite of all their efforts, time and money expended and the pleading of the candidates, our elections are decided by a small majority of the voters. There is no excuse for anyone who has the privilege to vote to fail to vote on Election Day, Every voter who neglects his duty is subtracting from America’s power to meet the dark challenge to our freedom. In European countries, where tyranny exists, annual elections are also held, but none dares to vote for any party except the one in power. Each person votes as he is told and thousands would give all they possess to live in a country in which they could participate in its operation. Ironically enough, however, there are thousands in this country who, given the right to vote, fail to take advantage of the opportunity it affords them. Remember, it is better to vote as you choose than to have someone tell you how you must vote. Making certain that you vote in every election is one way to insure your voting freedom. Let’s all go to the polls on November 7th! 1
